The Anglican Appeal gives Canadian Anglicans the opportunity to directly support the mission work and ministry in Canada’s North and with our church partners overseas. What kind of work does a gift to the Anglican Appeal support?
In Canada’s North
Your donation supports the Council of the North dioceses, where enormous
distances and a scattered population make it very difficult to minister
to parishes. Your gift helps dedicated indigenous students train to become
ministers and future leaders without having to leave their families,
jobs or community. Donations also support the church’s Indigenous
Healing Fund. Through this Fund, homeless youth at a Toronto shelter
make lasting changes and a First Nations community leader in Metlakatla,
BC helps her people reconnect with their culture.
With our overseas partners…
The church is expanding rapidly in many countries, often far beyond the resources of the people to sustain it. Overseas, your gift helps a theological student finish his education despite countless hardships. The benefits go far beyond the church walls as these leaders are often involved in important work in their communities, including running day care centres for poor families and ministering to those with HIV/AIDS. While these partnerships are of immeasurable help to overseas dioceses, they are also intimately connected to parishes at home. Over the years, more than 30 Canadian theological students have gained invaluable experience by being placed with international church partners. Your gift also supports Volunteers in Mission who share their time and talents with other Anglicans to teach at a school, build a church or work at a medical clinic.
